An old post I edited for the Christmas season. One of my favorite Christmas poems. At least the Christmas poems I have written.

The Birth of Jesus

An Angel named Gabriel
Came from Heaven down to Earth
To arrange with a Virgin
A Sacred and Holy Birth

The Angel said, “Hail Mary
Blessed Woman Full of Grace
God above has shined His Light
Down upon your Virgin face.”

Virgin was a bit surprised
For she knew not what he meant
But in her heart she could sense
The Angel was Heaven Sent

Angel said, “Be not afraid
For you are God’s favored one
He has sent me down to Earth
To ask you to have His Son.”

Virgin was a bit confused
For she did not understand
So she asked, “How can this be
Since I’ve never known a man?”

The Angel knew God's secret
He was so proud to share it
Mary, you’ll be conceived by
Grace of the Holy Spirit.”

Angel said, “You’ll have a Son
The Son of the Most High God
The world will come to know Him
As Jesus, Savior and Lord

The Lord God will make Him King
Redeemer and World’s Best Friend
He’ll save people from their sins
His Kingdom will have no end.”

The Virgin then bowed her head
With tears rolling down her cheek
Looked the Angel in the eye
Meek and humble she did speak

Virgin Mary said, “Behold
I’m the handmaid of the Lord
Let it be done unto me
In accordance to His Word.”

The Virgin then proceeded
To carry out the Lord’s plan
With her husband St. Joseph
She went off to Bethlehem

At The Inn there was no room
In a stable dark and gray
Virgin gave birth to Jesus
On what's known as Christmas Day

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone

Ronald - Beautiful and Touching.
The poem is also great because
it's also informative to those
who don't know the "story" behind
the Virgin Mary. I enjoy very much!
Thanks for writing this! Take Care.

Jennifer, thank you for reading and commenting. Far too many construe we Catholics devotion to Mother Mary as worshiping her instead of Jesus when it simply isn't true. It is a known fact that Jesus cannot say no to hi mother and that is why we ask her to intercede for us. God bless.

Mr. Doe;

Out of all of your talent, this poem is my favorite. It is special to me because I have reached out to the Blessed Mother quite often over my hardships and she blesses me because I and my remaining loved ones are still here. I'm not sure of the rules to this site, would it be rude of me if I ask your permission to print this out and share it with my 81 year old Mother? I know how much she would enjoy this poem and give her comfort during some difficult days. I will be sure and put your name at the bottom as the author. Uplifting and a reminder as to what it's really all about. Your an inspiration.

Irisheyes, of course you can use it. Sadly, so many others misconstrue we Irish Catholics devotion to our Blessed Mother as worshipping her instead of Jesus. If they only knew the truth is that we ask her to intervene for us and revere her. It is a pleasure to know that while being wrongly persecuted and crucified on the Cross that Jesus gave us His very own Mother (Son, Behold thy Mother... Mother, behold thy son) to be our Mother. As his first miracle at Canaan proves to us Jesus cannot say no to His Mother. I have a couple of great poems about The Blessed Mother if you would like me to send them along to you.

Hi Ronnie,
WOW!!! You have such a blessed gift of poetry!!!
You might as well consider those 10's as part of your wardrobe!!!
Thanks so much for this poem & all your other deeply moving &
beautiful poems as well. I also like reading the comments that
people share on here.
Speaking of Mary the way you were reminded me of a song that
always brings tears to my eyes, It's called "Mary, Do you know?"
Makes me want to ask you if you have ever heard the song?
I also want to share with you sometime about my watching my son die
for 3 weeks, & after he passed away, I thought of Mary watching her
Son die, & to a very small degree, I felt somewhat of her pain.
I wrote about this in my book about Steve. The book which I'm still
working on to get finished.

Love, Big Sis, Patty :) (Truthfollower)

Patty, thanks for sharing that story. Off the top of my head I do not know the song but I am going to google it and see if it is on youtube or one of those music things. When Mary and Joseph presented Baby Jesus to Simeon and he stated among others thing, "and a sorrow shall pierce your heart" he was essentially saying that even Jesus' own mother would not be spared pain. I look at it like if we didn't have pain how would we know what happiness was. This and a lot of other things including hate-love, etc. Thanks for reading and commenting. God bless, Ronnie
