Pastor Chip openly welcomed my family and I and many other families who were struggling financially into his church. He gave us all food and shelter, when we couldn't afford it ourselves. Tragically, he died in a motorcycle accident and it was very devastating to hear the news. The experience gave us hope and a new future to look forward to. Pastor Chips is forever missed.
You’ve helped so many families Throughout the remainder of you’re life. You bent over forward, you bent over backward But it never caused you any strife.
God blessed you With a smile from ear to ear. Along with a loving wife Who you’ve held so dear.
You gave us food, you gave us shelter From the cold. What you did for our families was Brave and bold.
You loved riding you’re bike It was you’re source of independence. Our hearts cry out for you as we Share this remembrance.
You’re loving memory lives within us Each and every single day. You were an amazing man You still are, even as we pray.
Pastor Chip Avelsgaard, My family and I are honored to have met you. When we found out you had left this world A part of all of us died too.
When the Lord comes for us You’re face at last we’ll see. We are brothers and sisters in Christ An eternal family.
If you still have the opportunity, it might be a good idea to share the poem at your church. You could even send the parish a copy if you moved away. It may help with healing and bring some closure to people with still open wounds as it seems it has for you.
