Sister

It wasn’t the end of the world when she up and died,
But I admit I had to talk a tear from sloshing over the side.
The crow quit calling her names over his drifting shadow.
Does anyone know where all the good dogs go?

Brown eyes, big feet and a short tail,
a biscuit’s nightmare, she could follow any trail.
A free roaming spirit, she feared no foe.
Does anyone know where all the good dogs go?

She scattered the squirrels and ran the rabbit.
She shook the possum from his dreams and shooed the egret.
Not a cat chase missed and she rolled the armadillo.
Does anyone know where all the good dogs go?

It must be a happy place, a place without a care.
For a week or a month, I would like to visit her there.
Dogs have no soul; some say it to be so. Then,
does anyone know where all the good dogs go?

Ha! Neat one, Larry Don't believe those arrogant people; I have met some dogs who had more soul than most humans. And I think your poem is about one of those

I recently had to put my beloved dog down (he was 13). I also would like to visit there. I love this poem. I can't believe dog's have no soul. They are more compassionate then most people, not racist, anti-semetic, or descriminating (except perhaps when it comes to cats!)

Great poem.

Looking into a dog's eyes, you know they have a good soul and a kind heart...so do you HAVE to ask where they go? We, too, lost a family pet over 30 years ago and still cannot bear to replace him. The attachment was so great that we never quite got over the loss. So now we just love on the dogs of our friends and neighbors!

Dogs are so special and have more soul than many people that I know. Those people who have never had a dog, have no idea how traumatic and emotional it is to lose a dog. They just don't get it, but those of us who are dog lovers can truly relate to your loss. Great poem!

What a beautiful tribute poem! Any one who ever had a pet can relate to this and especially if one is blessed enough to have a dog's friendship! I have been blessed with 6 dogs in my life, 4 are in doggie heaven and 2 are still wagging tails, fetching and filling my life with their energy and love. Thanks for sharing this!
